National Network Rugby Sevens Tournament

Two teams took part in the Rugby Sevens Tournament on Sunday 22nd May 2005 at Staines Rugby Club. The teams played three games and this worked well. Altogether, there were about 40 people present, including spectators. There was a BBQ and an excellent bar.

The GLSW Scout Network team was Ed Wilson, Sean Weston (both Croydon), David Widden (Wimbledon & Wandle), and Ian Smalley, Phil Newell, Luke Wilkinson, and Anthony Sharp (all Richmond). The referee was Geoff Austin (LSRFUR).

The next event will be on 11th September 2005, possibly at Twickenham RFC. We are considering running a Volleyball Competition (mixed teams, Explorers included) alongside the Rugby on that date.

Middlesex Club Sevens Vase Competition

The results of the Greater London Scout Network squad matches in Pool C of the Vase Competition at Grasshoppers RFC, Isleworth, on Saturday 30th April 2005 were as follows:

It was an interesting day and the team acquitted itself well. Anthony Sharp (Richmond) scored two scintillating tries and Gareth Jones (Croydon) one. Touchline support was vocal! We created a good impression for Scouting, and have been invited back next year. We do need to find additional players, and have more time to practice.
