GLSW Scout Network and friends
The GLSW Scout Network’s Sunrise Ceremony was held on Hamworthy Beach within sight of Brownsea Island. After the ceremony the party crossed to the island for lunch next to BP’s original campsite and visited the peace bridge and the replica camp. Wimbledon & Wandle District
Wimbledon & Wandle’s Sunrise Ceremony was held at Wimbledon Windmill (where BP wrote Scouting for Boys). Scouts from New Zealand (including a past Deputy Chief Scout) and Canada joined in the ceremony. (There are more pictures of Wimbledon & Wandle’s Sunrise Ceremony.)
Royal Kingston District
Royal Kingston’s Sunrise Ceremony was held at Kingston University and featured a beautiful “Sunrise Ceremony” cake and a kudu horn.
Croydon District
Croydon’s Sunrise Ceremony was held at The Houses of Parliament. Croydon were the guests of the Croydon Central MP, Andrew Pelling (who can be seen shaking hands with the Croydon District Commissioner, Theresa Jeffrey). (There are more pictures of Croydon’s Sunrise Ceremony.)
Sutton District
Sutton District’s Sunrise Ceremony was held in the Millennium Gardens in Sutton Town Square. About 150 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guides were joined by the Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Myfanwy Wallace, for a short ceremony followed by breakfast at McDonald’s. The Sutton Guardian carried a short report and picture of the event.
GLSW Groups at the London Eye
Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from three GLSW Scout Groups, 8th Wimbledon, 11th Wallington and 14th Wallington, met in the Jubilee Gardens in front of the London Eye for their Sunrise Ceremony. Over 700 members from Groups all over London joined together for the ceremony and then filled all 32 pods for a flight in the Eye. Nelson Jamboree Unit
Nelson Jamboree Unit took part in the Sunrise Ceremony held at Hylands Park. Everyone taking part was given a yellow scarf with which to collect 100 signatures. Afterwards Santa Claus visited the unit! (There are more pictures of Nelson’s Sunrise Ceremony.)
